There are more options than ever before to replace missing teeth. While dental implants remain the most effective solution, modern implant technology now gives you the option of receiving your new replacement teeth the same day that dental implants are inserted into your jawbone. This option, called Teeth-in-a-Day, eliminates the 3-6 month wait associated with traditional dental implants.

Teeth-in-a-Day uses 4 dental implants to replace an entire arch of teeth. This can provide you with a much more cost-effective solution than using a separate implant for every tooth that needs to be replaced. During your procedure, the dental implants will be strategically inserted throughout your jawbone in order to support a set of dentures which gets attached to these implants.

What Does the Teeth-in-a-Day Procedure Involve?

teeth-in-a-day patient in Roseville, CAThe success of your procedure hinges on Dr. Binon's ability to precisely place your dental implants in the right location. To accomplish this level of precision, Dr. Binon uses detailed 3D imaging technology that provides an extremely accurate road map for the placement of your dental implants:

  • Diagnostic imaging -- Dr. Binon uses the most advanced diagnostic imaging equipment when planning your Teeth-in-a-Day procedure. A Cone Beam CT Scanner creates a detailed 3D image of your jaw and the surrounding nerves, muscles and blood vessels.

  • Planning the placement of your dental implants -- Dr. Binon will use these 3D images to plan the precise placement of each dental implant in your jaw. By utilizing highly detailed diagnostic imagery, Dr. Binon can make sure your implants are positioned in a manner that provides the most stability for your new dental restoration.

  • Creating a surgical guide -- After carefully planning the exact placement of each dental implant, Dr. Binon will create a surgical guide that will be used during your procedure. This guide is essentially a template that eliminates the potential for errors during the placement of your dental implants, ensuring the most precise results possible.

The planning steps listed above will be completed prior to your procedure. You will then schedule your Teeth-in-a-Day appointment. On the day of your surgery, Dr. Binon will insert the dental implants into your jawbone and provide you with a temporary restoration consisting of a dental crown or bridge. Once this temporary restoration has been attached to your dental implants, you'll be able to enjoy all the benefits of a fully functional set of teeth.

It's important that your jawbone fully heals and fuses with the dental implants before the final restoration is attached. This process, called osseointegration, can take several months to complete. At this point, Dr. Binon will attach a set of dentures which will be permanently fixed to your jaw.

Recovery after Teeth-in-a-Day

Since the Teeth-in-a-Day procedure is significantly less invasive than traditional dental implant surgery, you'll experience a relatively mild and short recovery. You may have some soreness for the first few days after your procedure, but this can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication such as ibuprofen. Dr. Binon may also prescribe antibiotics or recommend using an antimicrobial mouthwash after surgery to reduce the risk of infection.
